Livestock development related institutional support services in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh

The purpose of the present study was to analyse socio-economic status and the various institutional support in livestock development.

The study was conducted in a purposively selected in Malvan Taluk district Fatehpur, U.P. A sample of 100 respondents were randomly selected from the 5 villages of Malwan block. The study revealed that overwhelming majority of respondents had medium socio-economic status.Awareness level and benefit realization regarding livestock services rendered by government departments was found to be satisfactory in case of cows/ buffaloes and pigs but the picture was discouraging with regard to goat and sheep. Only pig growers seem to have utilized the skills developed through training programmes. Marketing efficiency of institutional channels in marketing of various livestock produce was found to be deficient. Respondents perception regarding various institutional programmes on livestock development was found to be somewhat skewed towards positive side. Problems regarding institutional support on livestock development was found to be related to marketing in case of cow/ buffalo and pig. Financial constraints in sheep rehabilitation and less vaccination in goats were percieved as problems by sheep and goat growers
